My Weight Loss Journey

Losing weight has been a struggle for me since graduating from high school. Even though I was in the Navy, the temptations and convenience of daily trips to fast food made healthy eating difficult. While in the military, I tried a liquid diet prescribed by an outside Doctor. I lost weight but eating cold shakes mixed with water for all my meals during the winter quickly lost my interest. After leaving the Navy, I tried Fen Phen. It made my heart race and my hands shake like I had Parkinson's. Again, I lost weight but quickly gained it back. Then I tried a new medication called Xenical. The goal was to eliminate 20% of the fat in your body. The side effects were bad if you didn't eat the right foods. I learned my lesson many times! Oily gas and white underwear don't mix๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ I tried cardio kickboxing and low fat eating on my own. I loved the cardio kickboxing but didn't know how to properly eat. I joined Weight Watchers for the first time around 1998. We met in a senior center and the points system was the only option. I did fairly well for a few months but fell off the wagon after feeling like I had no support from my leader. After that, I tried Metabolife, Jenny Craig, the Dukan diet and Atkins. It was the same thing over and over. I lost between 10-20 pounds but would lose the excitement and gain everything back plus some. Fast forward to 7 years ago. I decided to try Weight Watchers again. I went to a small building in a strip mall. The room was packed and the leader seemed so excited about the plan. This was my first experience with my amazing leader, Kim. She shared so hung information and was truly excited about sharing. Everyone in the room praised her. I continued off and on for the next 5 years. Some months doing great and some months reverting back to my old ways. I tried the Vi Shape shake in between that time too. Then 2 years ago, my brain finally realized that constantly eating horribly would not allow me to live the life I want to live. I am a single mom by choice to an amazing 3 year old boy and am currently on the waiting list for another little boy too! Over the last 2 years, eating has been a struggle. I have realized that I eat for comfort. When I'm stressed, I eat. But, with my amazing support system of my mom, my aunt and my Weight Watchers leader and family, I am committed to finally getting on track with my weight. I want to be able to run and play with my boys and be able to see them grow up into men. I want to fit into single digit clothing again. I want to feel pretty again. I want to look in the mirror and see a beautiful girl that I can be proud of. I want my body back!! I know this journey will take a long time but it's worth it. The goal of my blog is to share my highs and lows with those looking to lose a significant amount of weight. I am going to share my tips, tricks, recipes, struggles and successes with you. I am doing the Simply Filling plan through Weight Watchers because it is working well for me๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks for reading and being a part of my journey๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€
